The Aboriginal Grassroots Site Netball Program (GRS) aims to provide opportunities to increase netball participation and development for young Aboriginal people living throughout Western Australia, with a strong focus on targeting participants who are not currently playing in an affiliated netball competition on a regular basis.
The Aboriginal Grassroots Netball Program consists of an 8 – 10-week training program focusing on skill and game development for young players. In addition, the GRS Program provides opportunities for competition at events such as the Aboriginal Youth Gala Day and Perth NAIDOC Carnival.
As the skills of the game are progressively developed, participants are encouraged to join their local Netball Club, trial with their Association for selection to their Fuel to Go and Play Association Championships representative team.

Our Vision:
In accordance to the Grassroots Sites Program, our primary vision at Albany Grassroots Netball Program is to provide a platform for young indigenous girls to have an entry to the Netball WA pathway. This pathway is inclusive of not only players but coaches and officials to ensure there is a representative opportunity for Indigenous members in all aspects of netball.
We understand that in our community our girls thrive in an environment that promotes a safe place and an environment that welcomes their spirituality and cultural needs. Our program aims to install a netball component that offers weekly training sessions which focuses on skill and game development to ensure each participant reaches their full potential. In addition, we realise the need for the girls to build confidence and self-belief in who they are and their identity and thus we aim to also embrace and drive our Indigenous culture in the delivery of the program.
