Green Shirt Umpiring Program

The Green Shirt Umpiring Program is an important step for umpires’ skill and knowledge development and has shown to effectively build capacity within Clubs/Associations’ umpire workforce.

Theory Sessions:

In 2024, the NWA Great Southern Office and Albany Netball Association will be providing 2 x online theory Green Shirt sessions, for participants prior to the season commencing and 1 face-to-face session once the season has commenced (date to be advised)

The online sessions are MANDATORY to participate and will be held on:
• Tuesday 16th April at 5-6pm
• Tuesday 23rd April at 5-6pm

A zoom link for the online sessions will be sent to all registered participants.

Practical Sessions:

You will be allocated to a Saturday fixtured game. An umpire mentor/coach will be in attendance to provide guidance and advice. You will be required to wear your Netball WA Green Shirt with black shorts/sports tights and bring your own whistle (finger whistle - not plastic).

Pre-requisites for umpires wishing to participate in the Green Shirt Umpiring Program are:
• Less than 2 years’ umpiring experience;
• Be un-badged;
• Be an affiliated member of Netball WA
• Complete the Online Rules of Netball Theory Exam via your mylearning
• Complete the Online Foundation Umpiring Course, aligning their umpire development with
the Netball Australia pathway; and
• Willingness to accept constructive feedback from Umpire Coaches/mentors.
